The secret, if there is one:
Fewer things, done better, for longer.
The original stories were published in the SCP wiki, and were later adapted into a non-SCP, non-creative-commons licensed novel by the original author, which is a fixup of the above linked book (and, frankly, is an improvement in most major respects.)
So yeah! They are weird, open licensed, independent horror films. They're moody and atmospheric, and at least one of them stars someone you've probably seen on TV or heard in one of those super popular podcasts.
There you go, round one of free/open horror for October.
So what's tonight's horror film going to be? It might end up being another Open License thing, or it might end up being a Public Domain piece, or it might be an international adaptation of an American horror film.
I didn't pre-plan this, I started down this road entirely by accident, so I'm not sure!
But I'm scrolling through jellyfin now and I'll write something tonight or tomorrow.
